The Art Project:  Surrealistic Collage

Art Project for this month is based on Salvador Dali's "Still Life-Fast Moving" painting. We will make a surrealistic collage out of old magazine images. A collage is a group of objects or things put together to make one piece of artwork. The most important thing is to have fun. A very simple project for little ones but that can be a complex as you would which it to be.

MATERIALS: You will need paper (Color construction paper works better), glue, old magazines and scissors.

Step 1 - Start by selecting various pages from magazines that have interesting pictures that you like. Choose about 20 pages or so.

Step 2 - After you have the pages you want, start by cutting out the images from the pages that you would like to use in your collage.

Note: You will not use all the pages or images that you cut off.

Step 3 - Put aside the pages you will not use and start arranging the images you cut off on your paper.
Remember that surrealistic art can be what ever comes to your mind and it doesn't have to follow the realistic way things appear to be.

For example, you can put some items upside down, or cut two images and make them into one.

Step 4 - Once you have arranged the images in a way you like, you can start glueing them to the paper.

Step 5 - There is no right or wrong way to do this project.
